David Nelson Antle
After a brief battle with cancer, Nelson went peacefully to his eternal home on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Victoria General Hospital, Winnipeg, MB.
Nelson will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Susan, children, Sharon (Victor), Trevor (Roxane), Darin, David (Monica), Steven (Kristi), grandchildren, Timothy, Hailey, Kurtis, Ryley and Shayla Fleming, Amelia Antle, Keria and Adrin Benson-Antle, Zoe, April and Talitha Antle, Brayden Antle, Samara and Asher Lepage , Ezra and Mireya Antle, as well as siblings, Ivan (Sandra), Clarence (Marilyn), Eileen, Julia (Tony), Barbara (Michael), Betty Mae (Norman) Linda, Diane, Roy (Patsy) Gerald (Marilyn), George (Janet), Bruce, and Patricia Carol Ann and their families.
Nelson was predeceased by baby brother Cyril, parents Cyril and Lillian, nephews Troy Lush, Bruce Budgell, and great nephew Max Antle.
Nelson drove transport trucks for 50 years finishing up with Jade Transport Ltd. which he enjoyed to the fullest. There was never a road long enough for Nelson. He looked for every opportunity to minister to those he met calling them ‘divine appointments’. His past times were fishing, camping, snowmobiling, motorcycling and said of himself that he was a jack of all trades but master of none. He could play multiple musical instruments including guitar, banjo, mandolin, piano accordion, trumpet, and keyboard/organ; there weren’t many instruments that he couldn’t play. He loved singing and writing music and sharing it with others. He spent 15 years ministering in various MB prisons and also in Personal Care Homes.
Nelson seemed to make friends wherever he went. They were all very important to him. Even during his four month illness, spanning two hospitals, he touched many lives with his kindness and respect. As much as he loved people, he loved his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ most of all; because of this devotion, he was compelled to love unconditionally.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Boniface Hospital 5B and Victoria General Hospital 5N for going above and beyond the call of duty in caring for Nelson. Susan thanks all those that assisted with his meals which gave us more precious time with him. The support by family and friends, especially his siblings, was a source of strength to Nelson, Susan and family. A special thank you to Bethel Community Church family for their outstanding care, prayers and support for Nelson, Susan and family.
