Obituary for David Clement
CLEMENT, David George
September 2, 1954 – March 30, 2018
With painful disbelief we announce the death of our superman, Dave, on March 30, 2018 at the age of 63. He died in his sleep while visiting his family in Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario. Our hearts, while hurting, are filled with incredible memories. He will be forever loved and missed by his wife Donna and his children Elizabeth and Stevan (Brittney); as well as his dad Albert, his siblings Wendy and Greg, niece Kyla, and cousin Sharon. Dave was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy.
After graduating in chemical engineering from the University of Waterloo, he moved west to work in the oil patch. Dave met Donna while working as a Reservoir Engineer. They settled in Calgary and for close to 40 years raised their family, built a wonderful community of friends, and explored the world together. He retired in 2010 from Talisman Energy.
Dave was the epitome of a fine and decent human being. He cared deeply for his family and was always there for them. Dave was reliable to a fault, unassuming, hardworking, and always put the needs of others first.
He loved hiking, backcountry skiing, squash, curling, coffee, music and made many lifelong friends through these activities. The family loved to travel, and Dave excelled at planning all their trips. Dave left far too soon, with so many future adventures and memories cut short.
A memorial service will be held in Calgary at the Dalhousie Community Centre, 5432 Dalhart Road NW, on Saturday, April 14th. Hall opens at 1:30pm. Service at 2:00pm. As the mountains were near and dear to Dave’s heart, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Avalanche Canada Foundation (www.avalanche.ca).
