Obituary for
Dave Arthur Labelle
Dave is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 51 years, his daughter Lynnette (Robert), granddaughters Jadyn and Kyla, his son Todd (Katya), and granddaughter Jaira.
Dave owned and managed Labelle’s Wedding Centre after working with his father in Labelle Printers from the age of 15 years. He loved talking with his customers and, after many years, was asked to become a Marriage Commissioner. He performed ceremonies for over twenty years, loving every one of them until dementia made it too difficult for him to continue. Over the years, even with dementia, he happily remembered being a Marriage Commissioner.
Dave loved being with people and especially enjoyed coaching Todd’s hockey. Dave looked forward to every game and was so proud of all the boys on his team. He also loved to play golf with his buddies, and even shot a hole in one!
In the summer, Dave loved to go to the cottage near Lac du Bonnet. He and Carol would enjoy cruising on the pontoon, listening to Neil Diamond. Dave was especially proud to be able to kneeboard until he was 59. His goal was to keep going until 60, but dementia prevented that.
Dave loved playing backgammon and taught his wife to play after he was admitted to the personal care home. Dave and Carol played backgammon until the very end.
He will be so very missed by Carol and his family, but they know he’s now free of this awful disease. One day, they’ll be together again.
A private family service was held.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Thank you.
See you later, alligator!
