MacNeil, Daniel
Alexander, age 80, formerly of North Grant
passed away at the R.K.
MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish on October
30, 2018.
Born in Antigonish, he was a son of
the late James Alex and Marion ((Venedam) MacNeil.
Danny worked as a mechanic and over
the years was employed by Joe Grant Construction, John McCarron and
Nova Construction. He loved music. He sang, as well as played guitar
and fiddle. He will be remembered for his gift of music and generously
providing entertainment for many parties and events over the
years.
He is survived by his wife Norma
(Ogley); daughters: Carolyn (Stewart) Saunders, Antigonish; Martha
Brunette, Ottawa; Danita (Jerry) O’Leary, Halifax and son,
Peter MacNeil, Antigonish; ten grandchildren; nine great
grandchildren; brothers: Gordon (Heather), Ottawa; Wayne (Cheryl),
Ontario; sisters: Ann, Cecilia and Alice MacNeil, Ontario and Debbie
MacNeil, Antigonish.
He was predeceased by his daughter,
Shauna Lee and brothers Douglas and James.
Visitation will be in C.L. Curry
Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Friday from 2 to 4 and
7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be in St. Ninian Cathedral on Saturday at
2:00 pm with Reverend Donald MacGillivrary presiding. Burial in the
parish cemetery.
