Obituary Overview
Dana Elizabeth Mearns
It is with great sadness that the family of Dana Elizabeth (Marsh) Mearns announces her passing after a two year battle with colon/liver cancer, on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the young age of 52. Given her lifelong interest in horror movies (specifically Halloween) and generally all things spooky, one tends to wonder if this date was of her own doing. Dana is the 4th child of Conrad and Joan (Nicholson) Marsh of Lakeside, Nova Scotia and is survived and will be lovingly missed by her husband of 30 years, Stephen Mearns, her daughter Caitlyn Bakraky, son-in-law Omar Bakraky, her mother Joan Marsh, sisters – Linda Brake, Andrea Fetterman (Jeff), Denise McLeod, brothers – David Marsh (Paula), Chris Marsh (Tara), neices and nephews – Jodi Brake (Phil), Megan Brymer-Goeden, Jordon Marsh, William Brymer, Joanna Marsh, Doug McLeod, Jared Fetterman, Ashlyn Marsh, Cameron Marsh, Hunter Marsh, Tyler Marsh and great-nephew and neice Jackson and Sydney Goeden. Dana was predeceased by her father Conrad Marsh, maternal grandparents Gordon and Margaret Nicholson and paternal grandparents Harold and Bertha Marsh.
As a lover of children, Dana spent 20 years running her own day-home and providing day care and after-school care to many children which also allowed for her greatest love of being a stay-at-home mom to her pride and joy Caitlyn. As an avid reader and general lover of books, Dana started her 2nd career with Chapters Indigo, Halifax in 2003 and continued as a proud and dedicated employee right up to the end of 2016 when her illness no longer allowed. Dana will be sadly missed by the staff of Chapters, Bayers Lake, Halifax.
A celebration of Dana’s life will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 6:00 p.m., at the Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax where a reception will follow. Interment will be on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Oakridge Memorial Gardens, Lower Sackville. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Dana to the Canadian Cancer Society. Special thanks go to the staff of Paliative Care 5th floor QEII VG Site.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Dana Elizabeth Mearns 2018..
