Obituary Overview
Cora Caldwell
The family of Cora Caldwell are saddened to announce her sudden passing on April 16, 2018 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. She was born in Tignish, PEI on Jan 10, 1929, the only girl with 6 brothers. Cora left home to work in Charlottetown before moving to Halifax where she met her lifetime soulmate Glen. Together they raised their large family at Shearwater and in Dartmouth. While raising her family, she found time for work as a tour guide with Volvo, working the candy counter at Kmart and racing through Halifax in brand new Volvos. She was always available for volunteer work and to support her kids in their activities. She had many dear friends she met through the Navy years and she and Glen continued these friendships through their involvement with CNAG and attending reunions across the country. Cora loved to travel and she and Glen had many adventures in their retirement years visiting friends and family across Canada and the US. Cora enjoyed life and was able to see the best in every person and every situation she came across. She loved spending time with her large family and was always excited to welcome another baby to the family. Cora was predeceased by her loving husband Glen, daughter Dale, brothers Chester, Kenneth, Earl (Jr), Harold and Roy. She is survived by brother Seymour. She will be missed by children Carol Charron (Joe), Calif, Patricia Gallant (Eric), Mississauga, Faye Richard (Bruce) Dartmouth, Rick Caldwell Edmonton and Susan Ehler (Donnie) Dartmouth as well as grandchildren Laura, Shelly, Cheryl, Derek, Richard, Mark, Adam, Luke and Randy and 11 great grandchildren. She had a special place in her heart for her extended family including sisters in law Vi, Mary, Marie, Carmie, Esther and Renie as well as numerous nieces and nephews and her very special friend Jo White. The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the 3rd floor staff at Glasgow Hall for all of your compassion and care as well as to her companions Danielle and Kirsty.
Visitation will be held at St Vincent de Paul Parish Forest Hills Parkway on Tues, May 22 from 7:00-9:00. Funeral service will be held at St Vincent de Paul on Wed, May 23 at 10:00. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or a charity of choice. Her ever present smile and joie de vivre were a gift to us all. As she would have wanted please be kind to one another.
