PLEASANT VALLEY – Clifford Clayton “Cliff” MacKenzie, 84, Pleasant Valley, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Harold and Gladys (MacKenzie) MacKenzie. Cliff was employed in the auto industry for many years as a parts manager. He was employed with V-8 Motors, Casey Amherst, Glasgow Mercury, Maritime Auto, retiring from Shiretown Home and Auto. Cliff was a faithful member of Salem Presbyterian Church where he served on the Board of Managers and as choir member. He was a life member of the Canadian Percheron Association and a past member of the Alma Fire Department. Cliff enjoyed working on his farm (Shady Creek Farm), looking after beef cattle and raising his Percheron horses. He will be dearly missed by those he loved.
Surviving are his wife, Janet (Smith); sister, Shirley McCormick, Middleton; brother, George (Ila) MacKenzie, Plymouth; sister-in-law, Jay MacKenzie, Chilliwack, B.C.; brother-in-law, Russell MacIntosh, New Glasgow; nieces and nephews, Jamie, Shirley-Kaye, David (Nora), Colin (Tammy), Steven (Kenda), Mark (Meghan), Clare (Darrow), Joan (Anthony), Jane (Anthony), Ruth-Anne and Glenn; many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by son, Kenneth Clifford in infancy; sister, Marian MacIntosh; brother, Rev. Dr. Sheldon MacKenzie; brother-in-law, James McCormick; nephew-in-law, Wade Rose.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 9th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 10th in Salem Presbyterian Church, Green Hill with Rev. Mary Anne Grant officiating, assisted by Rev. Dr. J. Kenneth MacLeod, with reception to follow in the West River Fire Department. Private interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Valley.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Cliff’s memory to Salem Presbyterian Church or the Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Unit Endowment. (please click on link to donate online)
