Briand (Meunier), Clarisse Sabine
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, who died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018 at White Hills nursing home, at the age of 92. Clarisse was born on Sept. 7th, 1926 in West Arichat, Cape Breton, NS to Alex & Yvonne (Fougere) Meunier. She was predeceased by our father, Cecil Briand, infant daughter, Ina, brother Vincent (Mable), sister-in-law Millie, brother-in-law Greg & great grandson Michael. She is survived by daughters Diane Simms (Albert), Hubbards, Linda Bourque (Bob), Sackville, Cathy Nelson (Kenny), Bedford, Theresa Pelrine (Terry), Lucasville, & Shelly Wilson (Brett), Elmsdale, grandchildren Doug, Darlene, Scott, Danny, Terry, Ian, Tanya, Paul, Tammy, Drew, Brendon & Connor, great-grandchildren, Matthew, Claire, Courtney, Tiffany, Alicia, Cayden, Brandon, Dylan, Hayley, Colby, Brandyn, Madison, Gavin, Evan & Elliott, six great-great grandchildren, sisters Aline Butler (Clarence), Anne Young, Violet Buchanan, Hermine Jones & Florence Young, brothers James, Leon, Ulysse (Bob), & Lawrence (Judy). She loved to crochet, and do fancy work and rug hooking in her younger years. Clarisse bravely fought breast and bowel cancer. She managed to live by herself until age 90 when dementia forced her into a nursing home, where she resided until her death. While there she liked to roam the halls and “shop” for stuffed animals from other residents’ rooms. She acquired quite the collection. We would like to thank the staff at Maplestone Enhanced Care and Whitehills Long Term Care for their kindness during her stay. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral, at her request. Grave site prayers for family only on Thursday, Oct. 11th, 1:30pm at Oakridge Memorial Gardens Cemetary.
