LeBLANC, Claire Helene – Age 99, of Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2018 at The Meadows, Yarmouth. Born in Wedgeport she was the daughter of the late Ligouri and Lena (Pothier) LeBlanc . She lived with and was a primary caregiver for both parents until their passing. Claire was a lifelong resident of Yarmouth and was involved in the community where she worked for many years at Trask’s Drugstore. She was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League and Saint Ambrose Parish. Family was treasured by Claire. She cherished visits from her sisters and brothers, her nieces and nephews and loved to visit them in various parts of the country. She appreciated a good cup of tea, preferably with her homemade sugar cookies on the side. She enjoyed going out for dinner and especially looked forward to afternoons or evenings sitting with dear friends around a bridge table. She was an avid Bridge Club member for most of her life even when faced with failing eyesight. She was sharp and social, spirited and energetic. Claire was very much her own person, a symbol of independence, ahead of her time. She is survived by her sister Katherine Shaughnessy, Yarmouth, and brother Don LeBlanc, Halifax. She is also survived by nieces Leona Coburn and Jeanne (Brenda) LeBlanc, Halifax; Carolanne Hatt and Sandra Whynot, Liverpool; Michelle (Rick) Crouse, Bridgewater; nephews Michael (Dorothea) LeBlanc and Peter LeBlanc, Halifax; grandnieces and grandnephews Nicole, Luc-Andre, Lisa, Shane, Tania, Gillian, Katie, Andrew, Christel and Daniel as well as great grandnieces Arianna, Nykola, Clare, Lauren, Layla and now little Katherine. Claire was predeceased by her brother “Newspaper Joe” (Doris) LeBlanc, Yarmouth; sisters Leona, Yarmouth; Ursula (Jack) Neville, Halifax; Rosa (Nelson) Deveau, Liverpool; Geraldine “Jill” (Joe) D’Eon, Yarmouth and Vivian, Montreal. Claire would have become a Centenarian on July 25 of this year. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew her. The family would like to acknowledge the kindness and comfort shown to Claire by the nurses, caregivers and staff at The Meadows. Visitation at Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth, Monday, May 14, 7-8:30pm with Funeral Mass at Saint Ambrose Co-Cathedral, Yarmouth, Tuesday May 15 at 1:30 p.m., Father Pat O’Meara officiating.
