Christian Hintz (1927- 2017) lived his life well. A gentle, patient, hardworking man, he lived with honor, loyalty, and integrity. His love for family, horses, cows, dogs, and machinery was quietly shown through his dedication to their well being. The family farm would not have been as successful without his mechanical talents. He was widely known for tinkering with new farm equipment, improving on what was delivered from the dealer. Crops were seeded and harvested on time due to his fierce dedication to keeping equipment repaired and running smoothly. Not much for wild outbursts, his anger flared extremely rarely and only upon someone’s mistreatment of his machines, animals, or family members. He was a farmer through and through, from his well-loved bib coveralls and work boots to his intense concentration to ensure a straight furrow when seeding the year’s crop. His word and handshake was a solid as any legal contract, though he also knew the value of supporting his brothers to make a good deal, as his horse trading roots were deep. As was his intense love for his parents, brothers and sister, nephew, niece, grandnieces, as well as his in-law siblings, and his in-law nephew and niece. With gentleness, and the occasional huff to inform one they were doing wrong where something would be wasted or not right for a job well done, he showed how to be a good human being while also teaching a skill. With soft words, often overshadowed by his younger brother Reinhold’s exuberance, he lived and laughed and loved with dignity, good humor and kindness. He was a good man, and an amazing person to have in your life. He will be deeply, deeply missed. May he be well and forever happy now that he is with his brothers, parents, and God.
