Peacefully, on Monday, July 9, 2018, surrounded by his family at the St. Catharines General Hospital, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Chuck (Charlie) Hadfield in his 83rd year. Our hero, and dearest Dad of Terri Hirschler, Cindi (Len) Beauparlant, Judi (John) Knelsen, and Kelli John (Mike Coull). Cherished Grandpa (GPa) of Mikaila Hirschler; Tiffani Kretz, Brett (Natacsha) Beauparlant, Brandi (Mark) Winsor; Jami-Lynn (Allen) Spink, Jillian (Steve) Vetsavong, Jay Knelsen (Jenn Bolan); Mitchell Lowndes, and Braeden John. Loving GGPa to Taylor, Kaia, Landon, Nolan, Lily, Halli, Easton, Blake, Kayne, and Raia. Survived by brothers-in-law Jack (Corinne), Ross (Elaine), Ted and Brian Benner, and sister-in-law Elaine Benner, and many nieces and nephews.
Dad was employed by St. Catharines Hydro for 30 years, prior to which he was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne U. S. Army. He was also a Sgt. with 10th Field Battery Reserve and a current associate member. Also a member of the “Loyal and Venerable Order of the Six Pack.” He was an avid airplane modeller, a “1Bills” fan and always stood by his Blue Jays. Dad had many fans himself and touched the hearts of all who knew him. His presence will be greatly missed by all.
Friends will be received at PLEASANTVIEW FUNERAL HOME (2000 Merrittville Hwy, Thorold) on Friday from 10 a.m. until 12:00 p..m. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday July 13, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. Private family interment. In lieu of flowers, dontationss to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
