Charles Edward Butler
1927 – 2018
Charles Butler of Riverview, NB., formerly of St. John’s, NL., passed away peacefully Thursday, April 5 at The Moncton Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in St. John’s, he resided there for all of his life until Mary, his beloved wife of 63 years, passed away. He then moved to Parkland Riverview in May 2011 to be close to family. He was the son of the late Edward and Ella (Tizzard) Butler.
Charles was a veteran of WWII who served with The Royal NFLD Artillery Regiment #166. Serving overseas in Italy and England. He then spent the rest of his career as an electrician for CN from 1951-1987. In his spare time, Charlie could be found puttering away at one of his many puzzles, playing bingo, and socializing with his “family” at Parkland in Riverview.
He will be dearly missed by his loving children Sheri Hogan of Moncton, Jeanette Ripley of Dartmouth, NS and Dennis Butler of Edmonton, AB. Also left to mourn are his grandchildren; sisters Mabel and Ruth; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by sisters, Lola and Joan; brothers, George and Dave; son-in-law, Kevin; and grandson Craig.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview, NB E1B 0E4 (869-2007) on Monday from 2:00 – 5:00pm. A funeral service will take place at Cobb’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 11:00am with the Venerable Brent Ham officiating. The interment will take place in St. John’s, NL., at a later date. Donation can be made in Charles’s memory to The Children’s Wish Foundation.
