Peacefully in the arms of his devoted wife, Alice, Cecil passed away on July 1, 2018 at the age of 69 after a long and unforgiving struggle with Lewy Body Disease. Cecil was born on December 23, 1948 in Nuenen, Netherlands to Frank and Johanna van Wylick. He was one of 6 children: Frank (Margaret, decd); Jane (Cor DeGroot); John, decd (Joan); Herman (Marie-Claire); and Wayne (Sandy). He married the love of his life, Alice (Corbeil) of North Bay, ON on October 4, 1969. Together they raised 3 children: Richard (Karen Wartman) of Kingston, Nicole (Brett Brooking), and Micheline (Bill Edwards). He was the very proud Opa of Carly, Matthew & Natalie van Wylick; Braeden, Carter and Hudson Brooking; and Cecilia, Bennett, Michelle (Andre Legault) Fawcett. He was a loving Great-Opa to Olivier Legault and Embraced-Opa to Isabo, Nadia and Katarina. He loved and cherished his Corbeil family: Georges (Kathy), Larry (Alice, decd), Elise (Tom Hawken), Frank (Jan), Lou (Janet), Gilles (Donna), Marc (Loraine), and Rhonda (Phil Lazarou). He was honoured to be called Monsieur, Grampa, Opa and Uncle by so many. Cecil loved being known as ‘Ceec the Drywall Guy’ and never backed away from a challenge. Throughout his illness, Alice was always lovingly at his side. She along with their children would like to express their most sincere thanks to Dr. Brian Devin for his unending support and care, to Dr. Andrew Frank from the Elizabeth Bruyere Memory Disorder Clinic for all his counselling, and to all the staff at Osgoode Township Care Centre for all the care and compassion. A very special thank you to Rhonda, Amanda, Wendy, Anita, Deb, Angie, Cheryl and Nancy for always ensuring his dignity and comfort needs were met as well as to all the caring kitchen staff for all their extra care and attention. Warm and heartfelt thanks to Joan, Ann and Gert for their unending friendship and support. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Daley Family Funeral Home, 6971 Bank St. (between Scrivens Dr. and Metcalfe Corner) from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Wednesday July 4. Funeral Thursday to St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2718 8th Line Rd. at 11 am. If desired memorial donations made to the Dementia Society or the Osgoode Care Centre would be appreciated.
