Cathy E. Benedict

Cathy Elaine (Flynn) Benedict – age 60 of Truro, formerly of Windsor, passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, February 22, 2018.
Born on June 13, 1957, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, Cathy was the daughter of Joan (Bowman) Flynn, Garlands Crossing and the late Morton Flynn.
Cathy was a mother, grandmother (Grammer), sister, daughter, aunt, companion, and friend. Those of us blessed to call her one of these were truly lucky. She lit up the world around her with her laughter, smiles and big heart, always putting others ahead of herself. Cathy had many friends and family whom she loved dearly. She was a very hard worker at everything she did, not just in her career, but in her family life. Her children and especially her grandchildren were her pride and joy. What she enjoyed most of all, was spending time with those she cherished, along with her many pass times. They included bingo, darts, washer toss, and watching the horse races, especially her favorite horse, Electric Syl. She spoiled her cockatiels, Sydney and Crosby and loved listening to them chirp and sing when she got home from work.
Sewing was another love of Cathy’s. Her career at the Nova Scotia Textiles in Windsor and Stanfield’s in Truro gave her great passion for sewing, teaching, and leadership. In both companies, she took on many roles and was trained in almost every department. The people whom she supervised loved her. They not only saw her as their Supervisor/Manager, they consider her to be a friend and loved her dearly, as she did
them.
Cathy was survived by her daughters Jacqueline Benedict, Windsor; Cari (Richard) Allen, Sweets Corner; son, Duane (Dianne) Flynn, Fall River; grandchildren, Nicholas and Shaelyn Allen, Sweets Corner; Danni and Dylan Flynn, Fall River; She also leaves behind the father of her children, best friend, Gary Benedict; and her companion, Albert Rennison, who provided her with care and companionship until her passing, his family; her siblings, Earl (Heather) Flynn, Donna (Robert) Thomson, Tony, Morty (Kathy) Flynn, many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Cathy will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her father Morton Flynn and brother, Terry Flynn.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0.
There will be a celebration of life, Saturday, March 3, 2018, at The Three Mile Plains Community Hall, 4474, Highway #1, Three Mile Plains, from 2:00-4:00 pm.
