TREMBLETT, CATHERINE (KAY) nee POWER
May 8,1945 – February 26,2018
After a lengthy illness, passed peacefully away with her son and daughter at her side, on February 26, 2018. Kay was predeceased by her loving husband John, her parents Jimmy and Beatrice Power, brothers Jim Power and Ray Ryan. Leaving to mourn but cherishing many wonderful memories are her daughter Kathleen and son Stephen. She also leaves her sister Anne Power (Randy Baltis) Kelowna, BC and many sisters and brothers-in- law, nieces and nephews from the Ryan and Tremblett families.
Kay started her long and productive teaching career in O’Donnells, SMB and taught in a number of other locations including Halifax, NS; Frobisher Bay, Nunavut; Corner Brook and St. John’s. She was a dedicated teacher who cared about her students and their futures and therefore went the extra mile whenever it was necessary.
Having retired, Kay launched another what could be considered full time career as a volunteer. She gave many, many hours of dedicated service to Mary Queen of Peace Parish Council, MQP Foodbank, and the Gathering Place. Kay also enjoyed a foray into the political arena where she worked enthusiastically with the Virginia Waters PC District Association. In addition, Kay was a volunteer with CRA giving tirelessly of her time and skill in helping people preparing their income tax returns. She had a full schedule but when needed, the word « no » did not fit into her vocabulary.
Kay was an avid reader, a superb cook and a staunch friend with a great sense of humour. She was a gifted teacher who was loved and admired by her colleagues. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
Kay spent the latter part of her life with excellent care at Glen Brook Lodge and her family and friends would like to thank the staff for all her care and support.
