OBITUARY
Carolyn Anne MacLean
March 19, 1947 – October 23, 2018
MacLean, Carolyn Anne of Bedford, NS, passed away peacefully at the Halifax Infirmary on October 23, 2018, surrounded by her husband and sons. Born March 19, 1947, in Lunenburg, NS, she was the daughter of the late Randolph and Violet (Zinc) Wamboldt and wife of William Donald MacLean of Bedford.
Carolyn graduated from Acadia University with a degree in education where she was an accomplished athlete as a member of the Acadia Axewomen Varsity Basketball Team. She started her teaching career in Bridgetown, NS, before moving to Sydney, embarking as a real estate agent for Canada Permanent. Carolyn returned to her passion for teaching in Sackville at Hillside Park Elementary School, where she taught for 25 years until her retirement. Carolyn was very active within the Bedford community, where she was an executive member of Bedford Minor Hockey and Bedford Minor Baseball, a board of director member of Boy Scouts, an elder of Bedford United Church and an avid bridge player.
Carolyn was a very passionate antique shopper, she thoroughly enjoyed searching for treasures. She also adored shopping for her grandchildren and very much looked forward to attending and cheering at each of their many sporting events.
Survived by her loving husband of 49 years, William Donald MacLean; sons, Randolph (Carolyn Janidlo), Robert (Sarah) and Donald (Suzanne); grandchildren, Megan, Lauryn, Katie, Sabrina, Will, Alex, Phenwick and Vienna; sisters, Katherine Forsythe (Mike) and Bonnie Schmeisser (Gary); brother, Barry Wamboldt, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by her parents, Randolph and Violet (Zinc) Wamboldt.
Visitation will be held at J.A .Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, on Thursday, October 25, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Bedford United Church, 1200 Bedford Hwy, on Friday, October 26 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bedford United Church or to the QEII Foundation.
