Obituary of Carol PARSONS
It is with overwhelming sadness that the family of Carol Genevieve PARSONS née KELLY, announce her sudden passing on Tuesday 27 Feb 2018 in Victoria, BC.
Born in Old Town Louisbourg, NS, 22 Mar 1938, she was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, aunt, sister and friend, who was cherished by all who came to know her. Her out-going personality and beautiful smile greeted loved ones and strangers alike. Mom started her career as a telephone operator with MT&T in NS and after a hiatus to raise her kids, resumed an operator role in BC Tel in Victoria, BC. She retired after many fulfilling years. She was an avid reader, a lover of hummingbirds, carnations, sewing, camping, travelling and her Irish roots and spending time with family and friends, especially her beloved grand-children.
Her weekly card games with precious friends was a special time for Mom. She was the glue that kept family relations close, with frequent hours long phone conversations with those she loved, both near and far. She had a spark and love for life that we are hard pressed to match.
Predeceased in 2000, by her loving husband of 41 years, Garnet St. Clair PARSONS, her brothers Charles , Cyril and Melvin, sister Dolena MacCUISH, parents William Thomas KELLY & Hilda Maud (née TUTTY) and stepfather Frederick STEWART.
Survived by children Al (Connie) (Duncan, BC), Kelly NEWCOMBE (Victoria, BC), Eva (Victoria, BC) & Phil (Penny) (Mill Bay, BC), she will be desperately missed by her beloved grand-children Emilie (Chris) & Katie NEWCOMBE, Erika & Aidan PARSONS, who will take deep comfort in the memories of her unfailing and consistent hugs, kisses, ‘I love yous’ and ‘drive safely’ reminders. Also survived by sister Harriet HILL (Kingston, ON), brother Rick STEWART (Brantford, ON), sisters in laws Gloria MacLEOD, Mary KELLY and brother in law Lionel PARSONS, cousins and many treasured nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family interment. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, a good old Irish tipple to be included.
Sincere gratitude to the Saanich Police officers, fire officials and BCAS paramedics, who valiantly fought to save our Mom. We will always remember your tenderness, empathy & hours long presence to make sure we the family were together in comfort. A special thank you to Jen of Victim Services, whose job is most difficult, but appreciated by all and to Dr. Michael Miles whose deep care will be forever appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
