Obituary Overview
CAROLE JOAN DION (nee LAMBDEN)
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Carole Dion at the Grace Hospital on July 27, 2018 at the age of 83 years. She will be deeply missed by her husband Lorne (“Bud”), son Evan (Sheila Chou), daughter Michele Loeppky (Rob), and her grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, and Ben, to whom she was devoted and so proud. Also mourning her loss are her sisters, Gaille Millward (late Merv) and Janice Lambden (Henry), nieces and nephews; Kristin, Erik, Lindsay and their families, as well as many friends. Mum was born in Galt, Ontario and followed her family west when they moved to Winnipeg. Mum met Dad in 1957 at Lee River where both their families were building cottages at the time and where many subsequent memories were made over the years. They married on July 22, 1961 and recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Carole worked for The Certified General Accountants’ Association for 25 years before retiring in 1999. She was an avid gardener and together with Bud, always made their backyard their sanctuary! Lots of great family memories were made in the family pool, going to Bomber games, and of course, around the dinner table, where Mum could show Martha a thing or two! Mum’s passion was family and she spent much of her time cooking meals, baking treats, and always supporting the local bake sales – her lemon tarts were always the first to sell out! She was very close with her two sisters never missing the regular annual trips to Vancouver to get together with Jan, or her regular coffee dates with Gaille. There are so many great memories, and Mum was always such a great teacher and role model to us all! Mum had some favourite quotes, including “I don’t like it, I don’t want it, I’m not having it”, and when she set her mind to something, it wasn’t often you could change it! Another was “ So Posthumous, you’ll live tomorrow you say. Too late, too late, the wise lived yesterday” – as did Mum, always living life to the fullest! Mum/Nana, we love you, we miss you, and we wish you safe travels. Special thanks to all the wonderful medical staff who cared for Mum and gave her comfort while at the Grace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carole’s name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation. Carole’s close friends and family will be invited to a celebration of life.
