Montemurro Castro, Carmen Josefina
Proud and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Carmen Josefina passed peacefully surrounded by family at May Court Hospice in Ottawa Saturday November 10, 2018 at the age of 70. Carmen had a tireless and infectious zest for life, despite her long-time cancer fight, and loved to travel and spend time with family and friends.
Carmen is loved by sons Rodrigo (Diana Banyasz) and Phil (Jenna Young Castro), and adoring grandson Simon.
She will be held in the hearts of dear sister Ana Maria Montemurro (Pablo Alonso), and nieces Catalina (Leo) and Alejandra, and grand nephew and niece Lucas and Simona. Carmen was married to Fabio for 36 years and maintained a friendship following their marriage. Carmen is predeceased by her parents Vincente and Rosario (nee Cambria).
The family acknowledges the care, treatment and guidance of Dr. Rowena Segal and the compassion and care of the May Court hospice team, volunteers and the Tuesday art group.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Wednesday November 14 from 12noon until time of Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1pm. A reception will follow at 10Fourteen Bar, 1014 Wellington Street West. For those wishing to offer a donation in memory of Carmen, the family kindly asks they are made to the May Court site of Hospice Care Ottawa.
