CARMEL JULIETTE MONK-
1925 – 2017
Carmel Juliette Monk passed away over New Years after enjoying Christmas with Family and Friends. An adoring wife to Clifford Monk and a devoted sister to her brother Peter. A passionate mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she kept in close contact with all her family. Born April 2, 1925, she emigrated from England with her two young children, Sue and Charlie, to join Cliff in Canada in 1957. She was an independent thinker and an avid artist, involved in the Sarnia artist’s workshop for many years. She remained bright, alert, active and energetic throughout her almost 93 years on this planet. Arguably one of the worst drivers ever to get behind the wheel she remained independent even after voluntarily giving up her license to maintain her own apartment in Sarnia and cottage on her beloved Stag Island. “Nanny” Carmel’s Family would like to thank her many friends, especially Dr. Billy Doyle and Rose Switzer, who were so kind and helpful, enabling her to maintain her independence and spirit. They say you die when the last person that knew you passes away. You are still alive in our thoughts and hearts, we love you and will miss you. A memorial service will be held in the future, date to be announced later. If anyone wishes to make a donation in Carmel’s memory they may do so to the Alzheimer’s Society, Sarnia Humane Society or Charity of your choice
