Lewis, William Brian
January 13, 1933 – March 28, 2018
Brian passed away peacefully on March 28, 2018 with his loving wife of 65 years, Verna, at his side. He is survived by Verna, his 4 children, David (Patricia), Gary, Glenda (Bob) and Darren (Sheri), and his brother, Sydney (Lolly), his sister-in-law (Elsie) as well as his precious grandchildren, Christopher (Shelly), Kayley (Max) and Jody (Kai) and great grandchild, Indigo. He was predeceased by his mother, Hilda, his father, William, and his brother, Glyn. Brian was born in Provost, Alberta and moved to Calgary in 1952 where he worked for BA (Gulf) Oil for 32 years. During his tenure with BA/Gulf, he served with the Britamco Club on their social and fundraising committees. “Lefty” Lewis was an avid curler and skipped his team to two Oilmen’s Bonspiel victories. Brian loved singing and was a long-time choir member with the Calgary Philharmonic, Calgary Opera, Riverdale United Church and other church organizations throughout his life. While in Calgary, Brian and Verna had a vacation home in Radium, B.C. where family and friends joined them for many memorable times. In 1992, they moved to Penticton, B.C. where they enjoyed a busy retirement. They loved travelling in their motor home and spent many winters down south square dancing and many summers camping. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Surkan and the staff at The Hamlets for the wonderful care that he received in his later years. Brian will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Condolences may be shared by visiting www.providencefuneralhomes.com/notices/brian-lewis. A celebration of Brian’s life will be held on Monday, April 23 at 2:00pm at Providence Funeral Homes, 1258 Main Street, Penticton BC.
