They leave their two precious children, Arielle, 6 and Liam, 3…and their dog, Pablo. Nicole leaves her parents, Irene and Claude Houle of Falher, AB, sisters Chantal (Mark) Gutfriend, Louise Houle (Josh Edwards), niece and nephew Kayla and Ethan Gutfriend, and three grandparents. Brent leaves his parents, Marilyn and Ben Keryluke of Red Deer, brothers Harley (Naccole David) Keryluke, Reed Keryluke, niece and nephew Kayda Keryluke and Branton Marcotte, and their mother, Marie Marcotte. Predeceased by his brother Martin (Marty) Nicholas Keryluke in 2007. They also leave numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Nicole and Brent shared a love of life. Nicole was a beautiful tomboy who loved outdoor sports including her passion for playing hockey (she was a dedicated Oilers fan). She grew up enjoying camping, fishing, hiking and biking which lead to her becoming a personal fitness trainer who excelled at the Spartan Races, an ultimate obstacle fitness challenge. Nicole was also a gifted poet/writer, an avid gardener and spiritual influencer. Her blog remains online at empoweringthesoul.com.
Brent grew up dirt biking, playing soccer, baseball and football…an avid Green Bay Packers fan! He loved downhill skiing and mixed martial arts (MMA). He and Nicole had a MMA website, interviewing fighters to share results and information with enthusiastic fans. Brent was in instrumentation and electrical in the oil and gas industry. He loved older vehicles, mechanics, motorcycles, family bicycle rides, long boarding, fitness and family Sunday sports day…followed by a cold beer!
Together Nicole and Brent shared a love story starting when they met in January of 2005, were married on April 12th 2008 and they passed away together with her arms around him, doing something they loved while living full on.
Nicole and Brent will be sorely missed, leaving us with deep sadness and gratitude for having had them in our lives as they live on in our hearts.
A celebration of their lives will be held on Monday, May 14th at 1:30 pm at the Crossroads Church in Red Deer. A Memorial page is online through the Parkland Funeral Home website.
