With broken hearts, our family shares the news that Brad—our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and fearless warrior—succumbed unexpectedly to complications from brain cancer on Saturday, April 21. Brad leaves behind his loving family, Donna, Natalie, Drew, Gabby, Claire, precious baby Hadley, and his faithful companion Sammy. He is also survived by his big brothers Byron and Randy, sister Maureen, and most loved extended families on the Egan and Bergh sides.
Brad’s career as a financial planner extended over 30 years in which he enriched many lives and created long and lasting relationships with his colleagues, clients, and staff. He conducted his work with passion and utmost integrity, sharing his boundless energy and sense of humour with all. To be one of Brad’s clients was to be his friend. He loved the staff at Bergh Tatomir and Associates as a second family and was excited to go to work every single day.
Brad had a lifelong love of sports, played most of them, and extended that passion to his three daughters. He influenced many young lives as Coach Brad and was a proud and passionate soccer dad to the end. Brad’s gift was his ability to connect with people, forging long and lasting friendships, and embracing all humans in his path. His personality was bigger than life, and no party could begin without him.
Brad’s proudest achievement by far was his family. We were his world. He was a second father to many, many kids over the years and our home was their home. Brad faced his illness with the same strength of character and sense of humour with which he lived his life. He was a fiercely loving and protective husband and father, and he fought with everything he had to stay with us. He was thrilled to become a grandfather one month ago, and sweet little Hadley brought him immeasurable joy in his final weeks. Although we are devastated by his death, we celebrate a life so well lived and so well loved. He will never be forgotten.
Funeral Services will be held at Foothills Alliance Church, 333 Edgepark Blvd NW, Calgary, AB, Thursday April 26 at 12 noon, followed by interment at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens, 24223 Twp Rd 242, Calgary, AB.
