It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our very loved mother, wife, grandma and « Gigi » at the age of 82. Mom left this life as she had lived it, always with strength, courage and a sense of humour. We will miss her beyond words but feel blessed and honoured to have shared this life journey with her.
Betty will be lovingly remembered by her husband Bill; daughters Debbie, Valerie (Bill), Wendy (Brian) and Nola (Kevin); Bill’s children Lori (Dave), Ken (Colleen) and Brent; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Left to cherish Betty’s memory are her sisters Joan Hewson and Bev (Brian) Hyde; brothers-in-law Boyd (Val) and Brian (Elaine) Kramble; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Betty was predeceased by her parents Mae and Frank Clark; sister Jean Moran and brothers Lorne and Doug.
Betty married Dan Shyiak in 1955 and they had 4 daughters. The family moved west to various locations, eventually settling in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Betty’s successful career with Mutual Life of Canada took her from Grande Prairie to Regina and to head office in Calgary. Family ties took her back to Grande Prairie in 1991 where Betty resumed her work life with the Canada Winter Games and United Way. Wherever Betty lived, she was an active member of her community, golfing, curling and volunteering in the United Church.
Betty married Bill Kramble in 1999 and they made their first home at the lake in Lac Du Bonnet, Manitoba. In 2003 they moved to Portage la Prairie, and they created a warm, inviting home where family and friends were always welcome.
Throughout her life Betty was a keen competitor and enjoyed any card game, especially crib and bridge. She was also an avid curler, golfer and shuffler. She and Bill enjoyed many winters on the shuffle courts in Texas with their Magic Valley family.
Our family would like to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Parker and Debbie Janzen for their personal care and kindness to Mom during her illness. Also, deep gratitude to daughter Debbie for her great help and support given to Mom and Bill.
Please join us for a celebration of Mom’s life on Wednesday, June 13th at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity United Church. In honour of her vibrant and spirited personality, please feel free to express yourself in her memory by wearing the colourful clothing she loved so much.
