Bernard Dwyer, CD2
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Corporal Bernard William Dwyer, age 59, on October 20, 2018 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre.
Born in Sydney, Cape Breton he was one of ten children born to the late Edward Joseph and Louise (MacNeil) Dwyer. As a member of the Canadian Armed Forces Bernie proudly served 35 years as a transport driver.
Bernie had a love for music and martial arts as well as sharing stories about his life and military services with family and friends. Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Yolanda (Penney) as well as his loving daughters, Terry-Jo, Christa (Gordie), Diana (Bobby) and Michelle (Jay) along with step-children, Jessica, Jonathan, Sabrina and James. Bernie was a proud grandfather to each of his 8 grandchildren, Augusta, Brittney, Kenneth, Natasha, J.R., Desseray, Dawson, Cheyenne and great-granddaughter, Sierra. Bernie is also survived by siblings, Cathy (John) Yorfino, Loretta Grant, Debbie (Paul) MacNeil, Bobby (Terri-Lynne), Jerry (Angela), Leo (Honey) and Billy (Jennifer) as well as his sister-in-law, Rose Dwyer and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Eddie and Kevin.
Visitation for Bernard will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, from 12-2 p.m. at SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Reception to follow. Burial will take place in Resurrection Cemetery.
