With heavy hearts, we announce that our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, Benoit (Ben) Boucher, passed away peacefully of Alzheimer’s disease on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Bethany Calgary surrounded by his loving family at the age of age 72 years.
Ben was born August 1, 1946 in Biencourt, Quebec to the late Aristide and Alma Boucher (nee Levesque). He had a great love for the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter…. hobbies he was always proud to share with anyone who wanted to join him! Ben had a long career with the Calgary Board of Education, retiring in June 2008. Though he was a private and quiet man, he loved his family and could light up a room with laughter, that was his way. His greatest gift to us was love.
Ben was preceded in death by his daughter Sarah; his sisters Pierrette and Mariette; and his brothers Rejean, Roger and Claude. He is survived by Ghyslaine Boucher (nee Guindon), his beloved and devoted wife, champion and best friend of 47 years: his daughter Danielle (Eric) Temple, and grandsons Christopher, Dylan and Cole; his daughter Renee (Adam), and grandson Tanner; hiss brother Alain and family, Rino (Henriette) and family; his sister Aline Weatherbee (Malcolm) and family, all of Calgary and Airdrie, Alberta; his sister Etiennette Emond of Sudbury, Ontario, and Gilbertte Fournier, Ghislaine (Alphonse) Banville, and Jeannette (Norman) Desbiens of Quebec, and many more nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Bethany Calgary for their kind and gentle care, we will be forever grateful.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Bethany Calgary (916 18A Street NW), in the Chapel (3rd floor) on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 10:30 am. Family and friends are invited to attend.
“God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around you and whispered “Come with Me.”
With tearful eyes we watched you slowly fade away.
Although we loved you dearly, we would not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, your hard-working hands put to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.”
