Emily Mae Beauchamp (Ringheim)
What an incredible woman! Emily was a super-mum, super-grandmum, devoted daughter, loving partner and joyful friend. A kind and generous woman, she will be remembered as someone who put the happiness of others first. If you knew Emily, you have probably enjoyed a meal she prepared, received a thoughtful care package in the mail, or had her helping hand strongly influence your life. She celebrated our victories and consoled us in grief. A lifetime volunteer, Emily was generous with her time to her community. She helped found the Nelson Friends of the Family Foundation, which provides aid for families with children stricken with serious illness or injury. She served with the Ernie Gare Scholarship Program, which assisted young student athletes attend university. She impacted numerous young golfers through her many years of service in the Junior Golf program. Emily did whatever she could to make those around her feel better. She was a delight to be around and a joy to her family and friends. She loved to laugh, and she formed strong friendships everywhere she went.
Emily was born and raised in Kimberley, BC. She attended her final year of high school in Sandpoint, Idaho. Emily went on to Notre Dame University on an athletic scholarship with the Canadian National Ski Team. She fell in love with and married Eric Beauchamp, who was in her words, “the best guy.” They lovingly raised their family in Nelson, spending summers on the shores of Queens Bay. Later in life, she spent her time in British Columbia, Arizona and traveling around the world. After Eric’s passing, she met Dan Calles and they enjoyed skiing, golfing, entertaining and traveling together.
Emily passed peacefully on September 15 with family and loved ones by her side following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Survived by her sons Gray (Victoria) of Denver, Colorado and Tye of Nelson, BC; grandson Adden and his mother Loula Fouad of Toronto, Ontario; brothers Danny (Donna) Ringheim of Golden and Henry (Sharon) Ringheim of Invermere, BC, her partner Dan Calles of Kimberley, BC; and many other loving relatives and close friends.
