Beatrice Maude Delaney
North Sydney
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Beatrice Delaney, age 97, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Born in Hermitage, Newfoundland, on August 31, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John and Olive (Ball) Roberts. She was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, North Sydney, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Beatrice is survived by her daughters; Marie (Runar) Olausson, of Duncan, BC, and Ethel (Lorne) Burchell, Halifax, and her sons; Jack (Bernice Andrea), and Bill (Karen), both of North Sydney. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Lorna, Kyle, Scott, Troy, Trevor, Mark and Michelle, as well as her great-grandchildren Cameron, Jayden, Jack, Brooklyn, Bailee, Dawson and Hunter, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Beatrice was predeceased by her husband William Henry Delaney in 1963, her sister Vera, and brothers Tom, Otto, George, Wilfred and Horace, and her grandson Derrick Burchell.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Northside Guest Home (Brown Manor), and a special thank you to Dr. Paul Hickey for his excellent care of Beatrice.
In keeping with Beatrice’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private service and burial will be held for family in the late spring at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. In lieu of flowers, donations in Beatrice’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NS, or a charity of your choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
