Obituary for
Barbara Krogman (Wagar)
In loving memory of Barbara Jean Krogman (Wagar) who passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 31, 2018. Born May 18, 1948, Barbara was 69.
Beloved wife of Donald Sweet and loving mother of Kathryn Kristiansen (Paul), Sydenham; Jonathon Krogman (Corrina), Kingston; and step-children Annette Dussault, Kingston; Al Dussault, Deseronto; Kevin Sweet, Napanee; Janette York (Jim), Napanee; Lisa Butler (Terry), Verona; and Terry Sweet (Barbara), Verona.
Loving grandmother to Lyric and Tuesday, and affectionately ‘Nanny Barb’ to her grandchildren Alan, Kyle, Troy, Nicholas, Reyjanne, Brealynne, Kateshia, Karlee, Evan and Brayden.
Sister of Jim Wagar (Grace), Napanee; Dan Wagar (Judy), Peterborough; and predeceased by Mark Wagar (Margie) Kendal, Gerry Wagar (Connie), Ivanhoe; Elwood Wagar (Shirley), Peterborough.
Also remembered by her six great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Barbara came from a long line of musicians. She sang, played the piano, and was active in her youth travelling with the College choir. A highlight was performing a concert at Massey Hall in Toronto. She graduated from Eastern Pentecostal Bible College in Peterborough (1970) and later attended Queens University, and graduated from Nursing at St. Lawrence College (1992). She worked as a Psychiatric Nurse at Providence Care for over twenty-five years before retiring in 2015. Barb was always up for a laugh and loved meeting new people, and no chubby-cheeked baby was safe from her hugs. She had a passion for travel to far-away places, and visited New Zealand, France, Spain and several islands in the Caribbean, Mexico, Cuba, and the east and west coasts of Canada. She had an affinity for water, and enjoyed long walks on any beach, but was in awe of the grandeur of mountains. Other favourite pastimes included long drives with her husband Don, playing bingo, casino slots, and the Toronto Blue Jays. She could be found cheering and critiquing her boys from the stands or the comfort of home. She had a particular soft spot for outfielder, Kevin Pillar, whom she knew could catch anything— and she will enjoy the best view this season.
