OBITUARY
Annie Elizabeth Barbara Powley
December 13, 1925 – October 5, 2018
POWLEY, NANCY
December 13, 1925 – October 5, 2018. In the early morning hours of Friday October 5th, with her daughter holding her hand and her son-in-law at her side, Nancy peacefully left this world to join in heaven her husband Hume and her parents Arthur and Jean Lemon. She was in her 93rd year.
Left with loving memories of good times spent together are her daughter and son-in-law Anne and Charles Colk, granddaughter Meghan Cooper (Greg), grandson Jordan Colk, and great grandsons Aidan and Liam Cooper. Also left with fond memories are her special cousins Barbara (Daryl), Shirley and Jeannie and her very dear friends Margaret Brown and Robert Brown.
Born and raised in Kelowna, Mum left for one year to get her teaching certificate at Normal School in Vancouver. While teaching in Winfield, she met her future husband Hume. Mum and Dad were married in 1948 and lived in Winfield until 1955 when they moved to Kelowna.
Mum loved to help those in need and made many good friends in the process. The former Kelowna Drop-In Centre was very close to her heart and she greatly enjoyed her years there as a volunteer. Mum spent many happy years volunteering at SPCA rummage sales and luncheons. She loved all animals, especially dogs. Mum’s much loved stuffy dog Nigel, given to her by her great grandsons, was cuddling with her when she passed.
The family would like to thank all of the fabulous staff at Brandt’s Creek Mews, especially those on Peach Trail, for showing Mum and her family so much love and support this past year. Mum could not have been in a better place! Thank you also to Dr. Erika Scheffler for all her kindness and care and to Rev. Isaac Graham for his visits and prayers.
We love you Mum, we love you Ammy, as much as we know you love us!
A private service will be held at a later date. In memory of Nancy, donations to the Kelowna branch of the SPCA would be appreciated.
