Obituary Overview
Annie Deleau
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Annie on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the age of 74, after a lengthy, but courageous hard-fought battle with cancer. Annie was born on July 30, 1943, on the family farm in Ethelbert, MB. Born to John and Malanka Krasiy. Mom was the 6th of 7 children. Mom shared so many stories about growing up in rural Manitoba, the hardships they faced, the language barrier and many other barriers they overcame and the fun times growing up. After finishing high school, mom went on to Nursing school in Portage la Prairie, and graduated with top honours as a Psychiatric Nurse. On October 14, 1967, mom married Donald Deleau and together they had three children. Mom and Dad resided in AB, MB and finally, settling in Saskatoon. After 13 years of marriage, Mom and Dad divorced amicably. Mom was a Psychiatric Nurse at the Regional Psychiatric Centre in Saskatoon for 22 ½ years. Mom loved her job immensely and often talked of her co-workers and the many people she met working there fondly. She did her job with much pride and could work circles around the younger employees. Mom was an expert gardener and took great pride with her gardening and flowers. She spent countless hours in her gardens and loved to show them off. Gardening was second nature to mom and she loved every minute of it. Another passion of mom’s was cooking. She would work endless hours making perogies, cabbage rolls, beet rolls, chili, bread and many goodies. Growing up, mom must have fed every friend that came through her doors. No one left her home hungry and ALL loved the food. Mom also loved her four-legged friends. She had many cats throughout the years and always fed them well too. Max and Panther will miss her. Mom spent a lot of time walking and going out for coffee to meet up with her many friends. Her greatest passion was spending time with her grandchildren. She relished in being a Baba, having sleepovers, outings, celebrations and the many milestones of being a Baba. Mom is survived by her spouse of 35 years, Allan Moonie; her children: Ryan (Laura) of Airdrie, AB; Derrick of Airdrie, AB; Carla (Joe) of Warman, SK; adoptive sons by friendship, Sterling McCallum and Donavon Gillies; her grandchildren: Madison, Brendan and Hudson. She is also survived by her siblings: Sylvia Yarema, Jean (Don) Bach, Neil Krassiy, Mary (Mike John) Hordeski and Michael (Tia) Krasey. Mom is predeceased by her parents, John and Malanka and her brother, Morris Krasey. A special thank you to the nursing staff at St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care unit for their care and compassion during mom’s brief stay at the hospital.
