Obituary of Anna Ravensbergen
RAVENSBERGEN, Anna
On Wednesday, January 10, 2018 Anna Ravensbergen was carried by the angels into the waiting, loving arms of her heavenly Father. Daughter of Helen and John Ravensbergen (Winona, Ont.) and predeceased by nephew Christopher, brother Chris, sister Catherine, niece Cindy and brother-in-law Harry. Having lived through many of her own challenges, she learned the art of daily turning into and trusting her Maker for strength, guidance and purpose. As she expressed it so clearly, He literally supplied her every need! Gifted with exceptional musical talents, she studied piano under Anton Kuerti, graduating from the Royal Conservatory of Music (U. of T.) in 1968. For many years she worked at the Bank of Montreal (Vancouver) in the loans department, followed by a number of « post-retirement » years with Symcor. Nature was her constant delight; she viewed all of Creation with a sense of awe and wonder. She was a true friend and lover of all creatures great and small, including Boris and Doris, her black-feathered balcony friends. Through a deep sense of God’s profound love for her (her words – « God stands by the side of the dusty road, looking into the distance, waiting for us »), she knew how to spread this love and happiness to all. She was thankful for the sacred gift of life. In her new and eternal reality, the music is Divine, and there’s an abundance of laughter, singing, praise and joy. She is survived by her loving companion Terry Stimpson, sister Francis Hilvers (Smithville, Ont.), brother-in-law Bert den Haan (Surrey, B.C.), and many adoring nephews, nieces, cousins and « grand cousins. » She will be greatly missed by all who loved her dearly. A special thank you to the caring and capable staff at the Vancouver Hospice home on Granville Street. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. when Anna will be taken to Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Stoney Creek for a Graveside Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vancouver Hospice Society, 4615 Granville Street, Vancouver, B.C. V6H 3M1.Online condolences and notes of sympathy may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
« Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth,
for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away…
I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem,
coming down out of heaven from God,
prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. »
