Anna Stirling passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Southwood Hospice, at the age of 82 years. Anna was predeceased by her loving husband Gordon of 63 years and her parents Peter and Tina Thiessen. She is survived by her daughters Linda (Bob) Smiley and Cindy (Rick) Travis; grandchildren Jennifer (James) Martin, Kimberly (Dale) Gugala, and Joshua (Jordan) Smiley; great-grandchildren Tristan, Dexter, Owen, Parker, Kinsley and Blake; siblings Sue, Margaret, Dolly, Neil (Jean), Bill (Marilyn), Trude and Helen; brother-in-law Keith (Terri); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by siblings Peter, Kathy, Jake, John, Ike, and Abe. Anna was born in Plum Coulee, Manitoba on August 28, 1935. She was the sixth child of fourteen to Peter and Tina Thiessen, she had six sisters, Kathy, Sue, Margaret, Dolly, Trude and Helen, along with seven brothers Peter, Jake, John, Ike, Neil, Bill and Abe. Mom moved to Calgary when she was 17 where she eventually met and married Gordon. They just recently celebrated their 63 wedding anniversary on June 26, 2017. Mom had many careers besides being a loving wife and mother, she was a waitress, caterer, seamstress, banking and many other odd jobs. She always said she was a jack of all trades and a master of none. Along with the love for her family, her other loves were gardening, canning, baking, sewing but most of all being the place where everyone came to be loved. Memorial Service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion No. 284 (Chapelhow Branch, 606 – 38 Avenue NE) on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 4:30 pm.
