Obituary for
Anna Christena MacDonald (MacGillivray)
Last surviving member of a family of five of the late Malcolm MacGillivray (MacDan) and the late Isabella MacDonald. Predeceased by her siblings and their spouses; Sara Mennie (Ivan), Bessie Fraser (Donald), Donald (Claire Cunning) and Rhoda MacDonald (Kenneth). Survived by her devoted daughter Mona and her husband Jeff McNeil of Ottawa and two precious grandsons; Michael (Laura) of Ottawa and Alex of Cold Lake, Alberta. Anna received her R.N. from Montreal General Hospital. She worked at M.G.H. until 1948 and then at Glengarry Memorial Hospital when it opened in 1965. Anna married Gordon MacDonald in 1948 and they owned and operated a dairy farm for 54 years then sold the farm and retired to Alexandria. She was a proud member of the East Hawkesbury United Church and U.C.W. ‘Auntie Ann’ will be forever remembered by her nieces and nephews; Brian, Ross, Barbara, Nancy, Erwin and their families. Heartfelt thanks from the family to the staff at Maxville Manor for their professional and compassionate care over the last two and a half years. The family would also like to extend their thanks to the staff at Chateau Glengarry in Alexandria for their excellent care from 2006 – 2016. Funeral arrangements under the care and direction of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main St. South, Alexandria (613-525-2772). A Funeral Service will be held in the East Hawkesbury United Church, Ste. Anne de Prescott on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 11 am. Interment will follow in East Hawkesbury United Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to the East Hawkesbury United Church would be appreciated by the family. As a Memorial to Anna a tree will be planted in a memory woods. A tree grows-memories live.
