Ann Louise Babcock
1949-2018
Ann Louise (Lawless) Babcock, age 69, passed away peacefully on
Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018, surrounded by her family. From her birth in
St. Stephen, New Brunswick, on February 17th, 1949 to her death on
Wednesday, she nourished people around her with her love, passion of
teaching and creativity, her warmth for music, and her giving nature.
From an early age, Ann had the desire to learn and share her love of
learning with others by completing her Teacher’s Certificate at
the young age of nineteen, later obtaining her Bachelor of Teaching at
the University of New Brunswick. She used her devotion to the English
language to continue her passion of teaching for thirty-five years,
teaching students from kindergarten to grade twelve. During her time
as an educator, she not only touched the lives of many youth, but also
devoted her time to her students through multiple extracurricular
activities, by which many of the programs were founded by Ann,
herself. Ann was very actively involved in community service
organizations, being a member of the Milltown Branch #48 Ladies
Auxiliary, Atlantic Charter Chapter IODE, and the Founder of the
annual IWK Carnival. Her enthusiasm for teaching and community
service, led her to continue her drive of educating and helping others
in her retirement years. Ann travelled to China to teach international
students the English language and opened her home to many academically
struggling students, along with continuing her services to the
organizations.
As a loving and devoted wife, nurturing and encouraging mother, and
caring and affectionate grandmother, she will be greatly missed by her
husband Dick Babcock, her children Tricia (Kevin) Calder, Courtney
(Jarod) Parsons, all of St. Stephen, NB, son Jared Babcock of Airdrie,
AB, step children Dawn Babcock, Clint Babcock, all of Mass, U.S.A,
eight grandchildren, her mother Pauline (Russell) Lawless of St.
Stephen, brother James (Angela) Lawless of Chipman, NB, along with
several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ann will be remembered by her
warm smile, generous hugs, caring nature and reassuring words of
comfort, her love of the lake sunshine, summer friends, laughs and
campfires, her beautiful musical talents, and her passing of many
family traditions that the family will continue to celebrate. We will
be celebrating her inspirational life on Saturday, May 26th, 2018,
from 2-5pm at 146 King Street, St. Stephen, NB.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of
