Ankica (Annie) Kovich
Ankica was born March 25, 1931 in Knin, Croatia and passed away August 16, 2018 in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 87.
Ankica was predeceased by her parents Fanika and Josip Kovic and sisters; Neda and Nevenka and brothers; Ivica, Tony and Vlado. Ankica was also predeceased by her ex-husband Marijan Snajdar, in Sept 1997.
Ankica grew up in Sisak, Croatia where she met her husband Marijan Snajdar. They had their first child Jasenka while living in Croatia and shortly after Marijian was enlisted in the war.
Ankica and Marijan escaped the war in and immigrated by boat to Montreal, Canada in 1958. Ankica was with her husband and first child, Jasenka. They settled and lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba for reminder of life. Anika and Marijan had a second daughter, Mary and finally a son, Damir.
Ankica worked several jobs over her lifetime in the hospitality/restaurant business as she enjoyed caring for and feeding people! Ankica worked a variety of shifts in order to care for and raise her children.
Ankica enjoyed socializing with family and friends. She was often cooking and feeding delicious food to her guests.
Ankica enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Three grandchildren from Jasenka (Gordon); Natasha, Derek and Tanya and one granddaughter from Damir; Kahlila. Ankica was fortunate to spend her last years with 2 great-grandchildren from Natasha (Travis); Jaxon and Parker.
Ankica was a proud and strong woman. She was not afraid to speak her mind and take a stand for what is right. These traits she has passed down to her children and grandchildren.
Ankica will be sorely missed but fondly remembered. We know she is keeping an eye on us and protecting us from heaven above.
