Alvin Edward (Buzz) Wickstrom

It is with great sorrow that the family of Alvin Edward (Buzz) Wickstrom announces his passing on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Rainycrest Long Term Care with family by his side.
Buzz was born on April 29, 1934 to Otto and Kristina Wickstrom in McIrvine, ON. He grew up in McIrvine before attending Forestry school. He joined the Ministry of Natural Resources at the age of 19, retiring at the age of 55 in Timber Management. After retiring from the MNR he managed the apartments at Faith Housing. He was united in marriage to Delores Grynol on July 16, 1955 and together they raised 4 children. He was an active member of the Fort Frances Community, spending much time at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29, helping out at Sister Kennedy Centre as well as Rainycrest. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking and curling. He moved to Rainycrest 6 years ago due to failing health and enjoyed his time there; he was an active participant in many activities and spent happy times visiting with his friend Kristine.
He was predeceased by his wife Delores; parents Otto and Kristina; siblings John, Allan and Ken Wickstrom and in-laws Matt and Sophie Grynol.
Buzz leaves behind his children Debbie and husband Rob Martinson, Cindy and husband Paul Avis, David and wife Brenda Wickstrom and Curtis and wife Melinda Wickstrom; 10 grandchildren, Amanda, Sara, Holly, Shara, Beri, Jesse, Allan, Amy, Andrew and Joshua; 10 great grandchildren Dane, Rogan, Sawyer, Rowan, Milan, Evie, Ruby, Sydney, Chase and Ethan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Buzz’s life will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 11 until 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ontario.
Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held.
The honourary pallbearers will be Buzz’s grandchildren and great grandchildren.
