Alma (Bortolotti) Tissot
Unexpectedly in hospital, surrounded by her extended family, Alma (Ilma) Tissot passed away on May 28, 2018 at the age of 92. Predeceased by her parents, Anselmo and Giuseppina Bortolotti, and her husband, Lorne. Cherished and loving mother of Steven and Paula. Dear and caring mother-in-law of Martha. Loving and proud « Nanny » to Lauren (Mike Leroux) and Graham (Shayna Sherman). Adoring « Nonna » to Bennett, Tova, and Mia. Devoted sister of Nello, Leo, and Elda (the late Ellard) Allen. Dear friend and sister-in-law to Margot and Gloria Bortolotti, and Marge Tissot. She delighted in her nieces and nephews: Perry (Lani), Paul (Jen Curtis), Mark (Christine), and Michael (Tracy) Bortolotti; Jennifer (Dave Skippen) and Andrew Allen; Donna Vaughan; Sandi Greenough; Lynn Avery; and Theo (Terry) Gray and their children. Second mother to Holly Morrison, Jane Es, and Susan Wortman. She was blessed with a wide circle of cousins and friends. Alma was a « breaker » of glass ceilings, with a long and distinguished career in both the private and public sectors. During her retirement she volunteered for almost 25 years at the Civic Hospital and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Thank you to the staff at the Ottawa Hospital, especially the fine professionals within the Thoracic Observation Unit (General Campus). Kudos to Dr Sohil Rangwala, Clementine, and their colleagues at the Bruyere Academic Family Health Clinic (Primrose), who provided Alma with exceptional care over a number of years. Thanks also to Carol Quarterman of Bayshore Health Care. Donations to the Hospice Care Ottawa, 114 Cameron Avenue, Ottawa, ON K1S 0X1 much appreciated. A Celebration of her life will be held at St. Anthony’s Banquet Hall, 523 St. Anthony Street on Sunday, June 3rd from 1:00 pm – 4:00pm
