Obituary of Alice Stevens
Alice Zoe Stevens (nee Paquette), of Owen Sound and formerly of Hamilton, passed away suddenly but peacefully at Seasons Retirement Home in Owen Sound, on Tuesday morning, June 26th, 2018, one month short of her 98th birthday. Dearly loved wife of the late Gordon Stevens (1981). Loving mother of Gordon Stevens and his wife, Mary Jane, of Dundas and Roberta “Bobbie” Harris and her husband, Paul, of East Linton. Proud grandmother of Lisa Stevens (Jamie Button), of Markham, Sean Spence (Lucy) and Paul Spence (Suemi), both of Australia and great-grandmother of Claire and Virginia Button and Elliott and Phoebe Spence. Alice cherished her many nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by her Hesp, Stevens, Wilson and Harris extended families. Predeceased by her parents, Albert and Alice Paquette and her sisters, Irene Hesp (Robert) and Anita Wilson (Richard). With her devoted husband Gordon, they built three lovely homes on the West Mountain and a cottage on Maple Bay. Alice retired as a forewoman after many years with Hamilton Cotton. She loved her home until age 90 when she moved to Seasons in Owen Sound. Alice had a wonderful time there and took great pleasure meeting new friends and eagerly joined in activities. She was never too shy to sing a solo ditty from the 20’s.
