Alice Loretta Jacobson was born November 22, 1932 at Innisfail, AB to Otto and Gladys Enrich who have predeceased her, as well as her brother and sister Bill and Ella Geddes. She is survived by her stepdaughter Mona Richardson; Mona’s two children Blake and Sabrina Hill and their two children; and Terri and Craig Brooks and their four children; as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Alice moved with her family to New Westminster, B.C. in 1943 where she lived until returning… to Calgary in 1962 to marry her beloved Ole who predeceased her in 2005.
During her adult life in B.C. she was active in the Social Credit Party acting as Secretary-Treasurer of the New Westminster Social Credit Constituency Association as well as President of the Ladies Auxiliary. She also was Corresponding Secretary of the New Westminster Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was employed by the Calgary Board of Education in 1970 as Library Assistant at Nellie McClung Elementary School for 19 years. She served as Secretary and 1st Vice-President of the Ladies Auxiliary to #285 of the Royal Canadian Legion for 5 years and for the next 15 years on the Executive of Branch #285 in most of the elected positions, including that of President. Alice volunteered many thousands of hours both within the Branch and outside of the Branch. In 2014, September 11, she was awarded the Royal Canadian Legion Life Membership.
Her biggest joys in life were camping and fishing with her beloved Ole and friends (even ice fishing) at various lakes. She also enjoyed golfing and bowling.
A “Maple Leaf Memorial Service” will be held at Branch 285 of the Royal Canadian Legion (9202 Horton Road, Calgary, AB) Friday, February 23 at 1:00 pm.
Alice’s cremated remains will be interred alongside her beloved Ole in the Jacobson family plot in the Granum Cemetery in Granum, Ab at a later date.
