Obituary Overview
Albert Roma
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Albert Joseph Roma, age 78, of West Porters Lake, who passed away April 23, 2018 in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour. Born in West Chezzetcook, he was a son of the late Arthur and Jane (Wolfe) Roma. A carpenter by trade, he was self-employed for many years before taking a position with DNR where he remained until his retirement. Being outdoors and near the water seemed to recharge him. A natural story teller, he liked to relay memories of his days working in the woods or on the beach as well as his gardening accomplishments. He had a real interest in and concern for those dear to him; often offering a helping hand while asking nothing in return. Throughout his life, family held great importance. His paternal grandparents and younger brother Anselm figured prominently in the many stories he shared. Albert enjoyed family get-togethers, loved to laugh and quite often could be found in the kitchen or at the BBQ cooking a feast. Besides his parents, Albert was predeceased by his wife, Sandra; brothers, Paul and Clarence; sisters, Elsie and Thecla. He is survived by his daughter, Melinda Baikie (Ron); grandson, RJ Baikie, with whom he shared a special bond. Brother, Anselm (Bertha), West Chezzetcook; sisters, Bernadette Barnes (Victor), Annapolis Royal, Beatrice Gay, Porters Lake, Marjorie Clarke (David), West Chezzetcook, Hazel Porter (Gary), Halifax; many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will be held in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Albert may be made to Make-A-Wish, Atlantic Provinces Canada.
