Obituary for Adeline Louise Price
PRICE: Peacefully on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, Adeline Louise Price passed away. Adeline was born in Strasbourg, SK on September 6, 1922 to Henrietta (Klatt) and Karl Moeller. Adeline spent her childhood on the family farm just outside Strasbourg with her seven sisters: Tena, Hannah, Emma, Mary, Lina, Lydia, Marg, and her only brother Henry, who have all predeceased her. After her public schooling in Strasbourg, Adeline went to stenographers school and moved on to several positions, finally settling as the Information Clerk at the Regina Union Station. It was here she met her future husband, Harry George Price. They wed in 1955 in Regina, SK, and moved to Winnipeg where Harry took a position in sales with the CNR. A son, Harry Thomas Price was born on December 5, 1960. Soon after, the Price family moved to Brandon, again as a result of a career related move for Harry. The move to Brandon was the last move the family would make. Mom was the consummate mother and housewife providing everything our small family needed. Our home was always open to whoever dropped by from the neighborhood as well as distant friends coming for visits. (Some of them ending up being quite extended.) Our home was the destination of choice for most Christmases, where beds were given up to accommodate all visitors. Mom graciously welcomed all members of the Price side of the family. Many wonderful years were spent in the Green Acres neighborhood, enjoying fellowship with wonderful neighbors. It was a special time as family and community meant everything to Mom. Summers were often spent at Gull Lake, MB creating many more memories. Whenever a crisis arose, it was amazing how many people came to Adeline for support. Her marriage to Dad ended on Earth on June 2, 2004 when Dad passed on. Mom and Dad’s marriage was based on their support for each other and their united devotion to their son, Tom. Mom was proud of everything Harry and Tom accomplished, often downplaying her contribution to their successes. Tom’s marriage to Mlee (MacKay) occurred on July 13, 1991 which soon produced Taylor Kendall Price on March 23, 1992. Tanner MacKenzie Price followed on January 20, 2005. She was extremely proud of all her grandson’s accomplishments, never hesitating to pass along their exploits. Mom struggled in her latter years with her physical health, but maintained a sharp mind and a good sense of humor. Her positive approach to life was best summed up with the following quote when the proverbial excrement was hitting the fan, “Things could be worse.” Special thanks to all the Fairview caregivers whose efforts and love made Mom’s final years enjoyable. There will be a family graveside ceremony in line with Mom’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Love you Mom and Grandma. Rest in Peace.
