Ada Simms

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Ada Simms (nee Marsden) announces her passing at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL on Thursday, May 3rd, 2018 at the age of 92 years. Born in Francois, NL. Ada was the daughter of the late Matthew and Mary Marsden (nee Hardy). She was also predeceased by her husband Chesley in 2007; mother and father-in-law Simeon and Elizabeth Simms.
She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Robert (Bob) (Gertrude) Simms of St. John’s, NL, Garfield (Joan) Simms of Mary’s Harbour, Labrador, Mary (Allan MacDonald) Simms of Dartmouth, NS; grandchildren Quinton (Stephanie) Simms of Mary’s Harbour, Labrador, Thomas (Jessica) Simms of Cold Lake, AB, Irene (Rodney) Simms of Corner Brook, NL, Matthew (Jennifer) Simms of St. John’s, NL, Mark (Tiffany) Keeping of Gatineau, Quebec, Megan (Derrick) Keeping of Oshawa, Ont; great-grandchildren Eric, James, Henry, Miles and Mackenkie; niece Janet (Terry) Toope; nephew Ronald Simms both of St. John’s, NL plus a large circle of extended family and friends.
Ada’s devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her and ultimately gave her peace throughout her whole life until she departed this earthly world to be reunited with her Lord.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 4th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at East Haven Funeral Home Inc in Port aux Basques, NL. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 5th at 2 pm from St. James Anglican Church in Port aux Basques, NL officiated by Rev. Marlene Harvey with internment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill, TCH, NL. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in Ada’s memory can be made to the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Long Term Care Facility, Alzheimer’s Society of Newfoundland and Labrador or St. James Anglican Church.
