Suddenly at LHSC on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with illness, Antonio (Tony) Buragina passed away peacefully in his 64th year. Proud father of Elisabetta Buragina and former husband of Mary Grace.
Tony brought joy and laughter into the lives of his family and friends, and was always ready to lighten the mood. He will be dearly missed by members of his family including his sister Melina Michienzi and her husband Nicola, his brother Sam Buragina and his wife Meleny. Fun loving uncle to his nieces and nephews Lisa, Nikki, Frankie, Daniela, Merisa, Mirela and Cristian. Survived by his aunts and uncles: Elia and Amalia Buragina, Maria Giampa, Shirley Buragina, Elisabetta Cannata, Michele and Assunta Persano, Katerina Trovato, Lina Trovato, and Giovanna Curcio.
Predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Elisabetta Buragina, his sister Maria Buragina, his uncles and aunts Tony Giampa, Frank Buragina, Tito Cannata, Francesco Trovato, Vittorio Trovato, Domenico Curcio, Giuseppe and Maria Trovato, and his cousin Peter Persano.
Tony was thankful to all his family and friends who came to visit him during his illness. His family would like to thank the staff at LHSC Critical Care Unit and the staff in the General Medicine unit for their care.
Visitation will be held at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 o’clock. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Church, 511 Cheapside Street, on Friday morning, December 21, 2018 at 10 o’clock. Interment St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Multi-Organ Transplant Unit (c/o LHSF.ca) would be appreciated.
