OBITUARY
Margaret Isabel (Campbell) Downing
May 4, 1924 – December 13, 2018
It is with hearts full of sadness that the family of Margaret Downing announce her passing at the Bella Senior Care Centre on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at the age of 94. Beloved wife and best friend of the late Frederick (2017). Cherished mother of Joanne (Ken) Olsen and Richard (Joanne) Downing. Loving grandfather of Greg (Katy) Olsen, Kristen (Paul) Dallaire, Michelle (Derek) Howes, Richard (Taylor) Downing, and Colleen Downing. Special great grandmother of Kaitlyn, Kaili, Zoey, and Tessa. Margaret is predeceased by her parents Fred and Marjorie Campbell and her brother Bruce (Stella) Campbell.
Margaret grew up in St. Catharines and moved to Niagara Falls when she married Fred. Together, they built a cabin at the Mazinaw, the one place that was never out of her heart. Her passion for reading led to a life long career with the Niagara Falls Public Library, and upon retiring her new passion was wrapped up in the creation of quilts for all of her family. She was also a long time member of the Niagara Falls University Women’s Club.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at HETHERINGTON & DEANS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 5176 Victoria Ave. Niagara Falls. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel at 12 noon with a celebration to follow. Interment will follow the celebration at Fairview Cemetery.
