Born and raised on Bell Island she left at a tender young age to pursue her calling, teaching young children. She began her career in the roaring post war town of Gander in the late 50s at St. Joseph’s Academy . She eventually opened Gander Pre School where her passions were well served , molding and inspiring young children. A career that extended well into her seventies! She was a pillar in the community and has had the privilege of teaching many generations of Gander’s youth.
She will be remembered by many for her daily walks or bike rides around town , rain or shine. An avid reader and fixture at the Gander Public Library and she was a woman of strong faith as well. She was never one to divulge her age and kept friends and family guessing . We could never say with certainty exactly how old she was, as at any given time even her own four children would offer varying answers !
Most importantly she was a loving mother , grandmother and devoted wife who always held her own in high esteem.
Gone but never forgotten….
A special thank you to the professional and caring staff of
Agnes Pratt House, Pleasantview Towers and especially Lakeside Homes. Your compassion and unconditional love made a seemingly insurmountable battle more endurable. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts…
