Mrs. Lily Li Kun Gan

At age 92, Lily left us very peacefully in Richmond, BC at the caring and loving community at Pinegrove Place, where she resided for over 20 years.
Lily was born in Shanghai, China to her father, Yip Sing Tsang and mother, Suk Yee Liu. She had 3 brothers and 1 sister that she will now be able to be with.
Lily was wife to Kim Oah Gan and was mother to four accomplished children, Jimmy, David and is survived by her two eldest children, Lida and Owen and two daughter in laws, Esther and Christine. She will be remembered as a tenacious woman and humorous grandmother to Paulo, Nicole, Francine, Jackie, Roni, Antoinette, Rachel and Nathan.
When Lily was young in Shanghai she would be remembered for swimming, tennis, baseball and her love of music. She especially adored the classical music of Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin. In her high fashion outfit to her matching purse and shoes, you could find her enjoying a dance to the foxtrot or waltz. She learned to speak English while pursuing an English degree. Her additional passion for fortune telling was obvious when she would palm read and more often then not her predictions rang true.
If anyone had a conversation with Lily they would quickly discover how highly intelligent and social she was. She spoke English exceptionally well in addition to Russian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Shanghainese, Teochew and even a little German. She loved rolling wonton and eating them too. Lily loved all types of food and you could always tell she was happiest eating because she liked to chat during lunch or dinner time. If you were lucky you could capture a glimpse of her quick wit and infectious giggle when you made her laugh.
A special thank you to the Pinegrove Place for all your kind, devoted, patient and compassionate care for our precious Lily. It has a been a pleasure to get to know all of you and feel comfort that she was in such good hands all these years.
A service will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 10:30 am (an optional onsite witness cremation will be held at approximately 11:30 am for about 30 minutes).
