Following her retirement from Polysar, Lil was a very active community volunteer and, for this reason, was named to the Mayor’s Honour Roll in 2000. She was a life member and Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62. She was a reader, commentator and Eucharistic Minister, as well as a member of the Catholic Women’s League at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Lil valued her family above all else; we were deeply loved, and so incredibly blessed to have her as our Mother. Thank you for a lifetime of beautiful memories. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held in the Spring. Arrangements entrusted to the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, SARNIA, (519)344-3131. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may send memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, The Canadian Cancer Society, the RCL Poppy Fund, The Manor Auxiliary (MGM) or a charity of your choice. Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com. A very special thank you to the staff at Marshall Gowland Manor who cared for our Mother for almost 10 years – we are truly grateful.
“Weep not for me though I am gone into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not for long upon my soul’s sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul is at rest, there is no need for tears,
for with your love I was so blessed for all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not, the fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts; in your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath, remember not the strife.
Please do not dwell upon my death, but celebrate my life”.
