Eleanor Catherine Doherty – 86 of Dartmouth
Passed away peacefully November 28, 2018 at the Dartmouth General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was the daughter of the late Gerald and Veronica (Juteau) Johnson.
In her younger years she worked for her father running a small fish and chip stand in Tuffs Cove, NS.
She was married at the young age of 19 to Harry Doherty for 23 years, and had seven, healthy children. She lived in the valley and later worked at Towers in New Minas.
She worked several jobs throughout her life and dedicated her younger years to raising a family, as well as the love of baking, and always having a large, Sunday dinner.
The family moved to Dartmouth in 1972 where she continued her career in retail.
One thing that did stand out and people truly loved about her, was her sense of humor. She was also keen, quick-witted, mischievous, and loved to laugh and joke around. She enjoyed going out in the evenings dancing with many, close friends.
She had a kind heart and wanted only the best for her family and friends alike. She especially loved her cat Buddy.
She will be sadly missed and forever in our hearts.
She is survived by her sister Inez Gignac (Pat) Ottawa, two daughters: Veronica and Eleanor (Ralph), Dartmouth, sons: Gerald (Sudbury), Michael (Pam), Wayne, Dartmouth. Grandchildren Melody, Patrick, Gerald, Andrew, Crystal, Kelsie (Weston), Robert (Carli), Sarah (Jordon), Jessica (Duncan), Victoria (Taelar), and Dylan. 14 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
Many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Thank you to all the nurses and doctors at the Dartmouth General for all their care and support.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday December 4, 2018 in Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen Street.
