In Loving Memory
MATTEI, “Peter” Pietro– Passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital on Monday, November 26, 2018 at the age of 95. He is reunited with his beloved wife Elena (2017). Loving father of Enzo (Jeanette), Anthony (April Comfort) and Mary Henning (Barry). Cherished grandfather of Chad Mattei, Telina Campeau (Randy), Trevor Mattei, Emily Graham and Megan Henning. Proud great grandfather of Mathew, Nathan, Lexie and Logon. He is survived by his sisters Zelinda Nigro, and Flora Vecchiarelli (Guilio), brothers Guerino Mattei and Joe Mattei (Irene) and sisters-in-law Antonina Mattei, Pauline Garofalo and Noreen Garofalo. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Francesco and Mary Bambina Mattei (nee Delisio), father-in-law Carlo Garofalo and mother-in-law Virginia Garofalo, brothers Tony Mattei and Chris Mattei, brothers-in-law Domenic Nigro, Alex Garofalo, Albert Garofalo and Carlo Rubino, sisters-in-law Mary Mattei, Antonina Mattei and Fiorina Rubino.
The Mattei family will receive family and friends at
J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Vigil prayers will be held at 2 pm. Visitation will continue Saturday morning from 8:30-9:30 am., leading up to service. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Parish Community of St. Kevin on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10 o’clock. Rite of Committal to follow at Pleasantview Mausoleum. Donations in memory of Mr. Mattei may be made to OneFoundation NHS St. Catharines Site – Walker Family Cancer Centre. As a memorial tribute, a tree will be planted through The Niagara Woodlands Restoration Program.
